Funeral service for Richard "Dick" Foote, 89, of the Spruce Creek Fly In Community, who passed away Jan. 17, , will be celebrated Saturday (Jan. 24, ) at a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal.

The Grumman Wildcat, BuNo /N1 1 FE has recently arrived at the Foundation’s Stow Facility and is already in flying condition. The plane is an FM-2 variant, built by Eastern Aircraft/General Motors and owned for the past 30 years by Richard “Dick” Foote who was the Chief Experimental Test Pilot for the FM-2 at Eastern Aircraft.

After being released from the Navy, Foote became a test pilot for Chance-Vought, flying the F4U. He was instrumental in the development of the first “pressure suit” (a forerunner to today’s NASA spacesuit). After being promoted to chief experimental test pilot at General Motors, he .
